Clad in Green

The exterior cladding of the homes at Las Casas Verdes consists of limestone and HardiPlank. Both of these materials are locally-sourced, the limestone from the Hill Country and the HardiPlank produced just south of Dallas. By sourcing these materials locally, less carbon is created in delivering them to the site.

HardiPlank is a fiber-cement siding made of wood pulp, cement, sand and water that has been recycled up to four times. The raw materials are low in toxicity and extracted and processed near the production site, further lessening carbon produced by transport. Along with the carbon reductions from decreased transport and low toxicity, HardiPlank also lowers impact on the environment by being a very durable material, warranted for fifty years. Other advantages include being highly insect resistant, fire resistant, and easily paintable. Las Casas Homes have a 15 year paint warranty on their hardiplank as well.

More information about these homes is available at www.lascasasverdes.com.
